AIDS: An Analytical Study in the light of Preventive Treatment Pertaining to Islamic Thought

Abstract

The protection of human body is emphasized and has been dealt with prestige by both Science and Shariah law. There are several diseases whose effects remain for a short period of time, whereas the treatment of a number of diseases, despite tremendous scientific developments,is still remained an open question; AIDS is one of the most chronic among such fatal diseases. The only way to prevent AIDS is precaution. No cure for AIDS, Precaution is the only cure, is what we hear. Islam has given the concept of “الطب الوقائی”which may be referred as “Preventive Treatment”. While approaching it from the perspective of Islamic literature, a number of precedence are present in Quran and Sunnah for this concept. It is the need of hour that along with creating awareness about precaution, the Islamic concept of“الطب الوقائى”and erasing concerns against AIDS need to be propagated. So that by getting rid of this disease, a healthy tolerance based society can be established. In the present article, the Islamic concept of“الطب الوقائی” (Preventive Treatment) has been discussed in details in conjunction with AIDS.
