A Comparative Analysis of the Quranic and Biblical Narratives of the Migration of Prophet Musa (AS) to Madyan

Abstract

The present paper explores two different versions of an important 
event from the life of prophet Musa Alaihe Salam(AS).The under study 
event is related to the migration of  Prophet Musa (AS) from Egypt to 
Madyan which took place when the Prophet was in his youth and before the 
conferment of his Prophet hood .The study gives a comparative analysis of 
the two holy books (i.e. the Noble Quran and the Bible).The qualitative 
textual analysis of the two versions shows that there is a great deal of 
difference found in the two books. The findings show that the major events 
have been contextualized differently mainly because of the approach 
towards the killing of a man by the Prophet Musa (AS) as Quran consider it 
killing unintentionally while the Bible regards it as killing  intentionally. 
Finally, the Quranic version of the narratives seems more logical than the 
Biblical one.
