Li’an Detailed review of Tafseer of Mazhari in Surat-e-Noor
Keywords:
Hadd-e-Qadhaf, husband), invoke, eighty stripes, fifth timeAbstract
Li’an is abbreviated from La’nat. It means that if a man, after having accused her wife, cannot come up with sound proofs curses upon himself. That’s why; the Holy Quran has named the entire matter after Li’an. Shariah has solved out the problem of mutual incongruity of a husband and her wife in the form of Li’an. If a man maligns his wife for fornication but cannot bring forward sound proofs, he then avail Li’an, an oath of condemnation, as Allah has commanded. The ruler or a leader, in this regard, orders him (husband) to swear four times by Allah in front of four witnesses; and invoke Allah’ curse upon him for the fifth time if he tells a lie. Then the woman while deterring the recommended punishment will bear witness four times that he (her husband) is telling a lie. For the fifth time, she will invoke Allah’s wrath upon her if he (husband) tells the truth. It is note-worthy that any person blaming others for adultery must come forward with four witnesses or else get ready for, Hadd-e-Qadhaf, eighty stripes. It shows that Islam detest blaming others without having sound proofs. The details regarding the above stated subject have vividly been mentioned in following topics.
